The beauty industry is built on technical skill – but technical skill alone is not what creates a successful, sustainable career.
It’s the way you communicate.
The way you consult.
The way you guide, set expectations, navigate challenges, and hold standards.
And yet, these are the very skills most stylists are never formally taught.
Curated Beauty Career was created to fill that gap.

about erin
Curated Beauty Career was founded by Erin Gorham, a luxury hairstylist with over 20 years of behind-the-chair experience and 6 years of coaching and education.
She is a trusted professional known for her precision, communication, and high standards, with over 60 five-star reviews and a reputation built on consistency and client trust. Based in Bend, Oregon, Erin has built her career on more than technical skill—it has been built on clarity, connection, and intention.
Through years of working one-on-one with clients and mentoring other stylists, Erin recognized a clear gap in the industry:
Stylists are taught how to do hair.
But they are rarely taught how to communicate, lead, and build a career around it.
Her work is rooted in one core belief:
“A client’s satisfaction is determined by how understood they feel—not just how their hair turns out.”
Erin’s story
I’ve always been good at doing hair—but I learned early on that great technical work does not automatically create a satisfied client.
Because no matter how beautiful the result is, if it doesn’t align with what the client wanted, it misses the mark.
What creates satisfaction is something deeper. It’s whether the client feels heard. Whether they feel understood. Whether their goals, preferences, and vision were fully seen and thoughtfully translated into the final result.
Through years behind the chair, and working with hundreds of stylists as an educator and coach, I’ve seen how common this gap is. Stylists are highly skilled—they can create beautiful work—but the client still leaves feeling slightly disconnected from the experience. Not because the work wasn’t good, but because the communication wasn’t fully aligned.
What I’ve come to understand is this: clients are not just coming in for hair. They are coming in to feel something. To feel confident, understood, cared for, and seen. And that requires more than technical ability—it requires presence, intention, and the ability to truly listen.
Sometimes that means asking more questions.
Taking more time in the consultation.
Holding space long enough to fully understand what the client is really asking for—even when they don’t have the words for it yet.
Curated Beauty Career was created from this realization.
Because stylists are taught how to do hair—but rarely how to communicate, interpret, and lead the client experience in a way that creates true alignment.
This work is about refining that skill—so your clients don’t just love how their hair looks, but feel fully seen, understood, and confident in the experience you provide.
Sometimes that means asking better questions.
Taking more time in the consultation.
Holding space long enough to fully understand what the client is really asking for—even when they don’t yet have the words.

Curated Beauty Career was created from this realization.
Because when you refine how you communicate, interpret, and lead the client experience, everything changes.
Your clients don’t just like the result—
they feel it.
When your clients feel truly seen, it’s not just about the hair—it’s about how you made them feel.
